Plastic tubing is used for various agricultural practices including pneumatic and fluid-based applications for operating and cleaning numerous types of equipment. Agricultural tubing can also be used spraying herbicides, fertilizers and other chemicals, and for cleaning systems for animal enclosures. Advantages of using plastic tubing are that it is flexible, crack and abrasion resistant, and resistant to water, chemicals, oils and gases.

Freelin-Wade plastic tubing is offered in a variety of sizes, styles and material options to meet your agricultural requirements. Our tubing is available in sizes up to 1” OD and in standard or custom lengths. It is important to note that our plastic tubing is not produced in a “clean room” environment and therefore is not suitable for milk transfer or similar industrial applications.

Advantages of Pneumatic Tubing for Agricultural Applications

Pneumatic tubing is ideal for rapid movement operations and provides the same long-lasting performance properties as hydraulic agricultural hoses and can be used for many of the same applications. Benefits of plastic tubing over hydraulic tubes and hoses include easier setup, eliminated risk of dangerous fluid leaks, and less maintenance.

Plastic tubing is offered in various options including standard, coiled and bonded options that are durable and compatible with push-to-connect fittings. Coiled plastic tubing is especially useful for pneumatic agricultural applications because it is self-storing, kink-resistant and retains its shape after being repeatedly extended and flexed. It is also highly durable, which is useful for applications where the tubing is pulled across floors or around equipment.

General Agricultural Applications for Plastic Tubing

Common Materials for Agricultural Plastic Tubing

Plastic tubing materials from Freelin-Wade are suitable for pneumatic tubing and hoses commonly used for a wide range of agricultural equipment and systems ranging from automated fertilizer system to robotic milking machines. Plastic tubing is compatible with a wide range of fittings including push-to-connect, barb, compression, brass-threaded, and quick connect.

LLDPE Tubing

Polyethylene LLDPE is lightweight and provides superior stress and crack resistance, along with high puncture resistance and burst pressure. It has an operating temperature range of -40°F to 150°F and is FDA and NSF51 compliant.

Poly-Vinyl Chloride Tubing

Poly-Vinyl Chloride (PVC) is chemical and oxidation resistant with a smooth inner wall to prevent sediment accumulation. PVC tubes extremely lightweight and flexible, and are translucent for flow monitoring

Nylon Plastic Tubing and Coiled Tubing

Nylon is flexible with a small bend radius and resists chemicals including solvents, alkalis, oils, and petroleum. It also resists fungal growth. We also offer nylon coiled tubing that is economical and lightweight, withstands temperatures from -60° to 180°F and is oil, grease and corrosion resistant.

Flexeel® Coiled Hoses

Flexeel® coiled hoses are polyurethane hoses that are kink and abrasion resistant and remain flexible in subzero temperatures. They are lightweight, have a small bend radius and resist chemicals, oil, fuel and fungus.

Flexcoil® Spiral Coiled Tubing

Fexcoil® spiral coils are self-storing flexible polyurethane spiral hoses with a temperature rating of -40° to 125°F and resist abrasion and kinking. Ideal for use with air tools and equipment.
