Freelin-Wade in the Community
As much a part of us as the tubing we make are the activities that we support in the community.
McMinnville Chamber of Commerce:
Freelin-Wade is an active member of the McMinnville Chamber of Commerce. The Chamber of Commerce is an organization of volunteer business people who invest time and money in a community development program - working together to improve the economic, civic and cultural well-being of the area. The Chamber is composed of volunteers serving as committee workers and board officers. The staff devotes efforts to build strong organizations and carry out the action plan developed by the Board of Directors to best represent the interests of the membership.
Freelin-Wade is a proud sponsor of FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology). FIRST is a multi-national non-profit organization that aspires to transform culture, making Science and Technology as cool for kids as sports are today.
FIRST Robotics Competition:
FIRST developed and manages a well-known program for high school seniors called the FIRST Robotics Competition. This competition offers a fascinating, real-world, professional experience that helps students see the value of education and careers in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math. Teams of students design and build robots while learning and working along side volunteer Engineers. They also have the opportunity to earn a spot at the FIRST Championship, and qualify for $8 million in scholarship funds.
Freelin-Wade donates 1,500 tubing sample kits to the FIRST Competition each year. The teams utilize a variety of components in building their robotic projects. FIRST participants will say, “It’s the hardest fun ever!”
Relay for Life:
Freelin-Wade is actively involved in the American Cancer Society's Relay For Life fundraiser. Relay For Life is a fun-filled overnight event designed to celebrate survivorship and raise money for research and programs of your American Cancer Society. During the event, teams of people gather at schools, fairgrounds, or parks and take turns walking or running laps. Each team tries to keep at least one team member on the track at all times.
